Some suggestions
I would make using new media if I were hired by Baruch College is to use social
media to engage and get to actually know my students. I know there are many
students who don’t like or is afraid of speaking up so through the use of social
media, these students can still get their voices and perspectives heard. Posting
various topics on social media will help me get everyone involved in the
conversation because everyone has a topic that they are passionate or
interested in discussing. For instance, Facebook and Twitter can be of
assistance in keeping up with my students on social media. Most people are familiar
with these websites/applications therefore there would not be much
complications. This is an easier way of communicating and more efficient than
emailing.
Hello Annie,
ReplyDeleteGreat comment and I totally agree with your idea of trying to connect with people through post about interesting topics. Like many, I am somewhat anti-social and when I first came to Baruch it was difficult for me to make friends. If they had some sort of wiki or blog site where people announce interesting events or topics and we can view different comments by different students that would definitely help me connect with others. Kind of like a Reddit community within Baruch!
Thanks,
Syed
Hi Annie,
ReplyDeleteI really liked that you would try to incorporate social media for communicating with students in school. However, I think that some might not be so open to using platforms that are personal, opening it up to professors and such. I do agree that it is easier to communicate through social media than email.
